"Be Quiet And Drive" by Deftones is the first Drop C# song I learned.

Seether, Linkin Park, Staind, Limpbizkit... Basically all my favorite Nu-Metal albums were in Drop C#. Its been my preferred tuning for over 2 decades. It fits the range of Singing and Screaming very well. Works well with Acoustic/Unplugged and Overdrive/Distortion. Sounds great in Studio too! Reminds me of something Dino from Fear Factory said on the 2005 Roadrunner United DVD: "You don't have to tune low to be heavy". That stuck with me. Great video, dude!

Love this! Drop C# has been my main tuning for over a decade. Melancholic melodies, and heavy riffs, just seem to flow when I'm in that tuning.

I personally love almost all tuning, but if you work with a vocalist, you have to make sure your tuning can accommodate their vocal range as well.

I’m 53 and got a guitar teacher and started getting weekly lessons 4.5 years ago. I have arthritis and tendinitis. With standard tuning, I get terrible inflammation. I read about Toni Iommi and was inspired by his struggles and had my local guitar shop set up my Solar GC1.6 to C# standard, and I use Earnie Ball custom gauge strings (.10-.48) and I can play without pain. I play all songs in standard tuning and Eb tuning in C# standard.

I play drop D tuning songs at Eb tuning with the low E tuned to C#. I use custom Earnie Ball strings, .9-.46 for that guitar, but replace the .46 string with a single .48 gauge string.

That makes it possible for me to play.

Drop A# and also the tuning where you drop the A# to a G (Sevendust tuning) are my favorites, so fun to write in

Same. Learned a lot in standard and drop d…once I messed around in c# it opened up something in the brain. Same thing happened in the good ol metalcore days when drop c was the go-to tuning, and I kind of fell into the trap of everything I wrote during that time landing in the same c major sounding scale. Again, went another half step down to drop b and it opened up something in the brain. For some reason I can never explain, those half steps always hit different for me personally and I wrote better riffs. Anytime I touch a guitar I’ve never held, I test it first in drop c#, then in drop b to see if I jive with it.

I started learning to play guitar in drop C#/Db before moving up to E, cause i was obsessed with Linkin Park (and still i am), it just became my standard tuning and feels like home to me.

Btw Ray that jam/rendition of Floods mid video was killer, sounded so great

I love Drop C#, C, B, and Bb (A#). When it comes to Drop A and lower, I use my 7 stringers and 5 string basses.

My favorite Deftones album “Around The Fur” is in drop C# and it made me fall in love with the tuning

Drop D is my favorite. Nothing is more satisfying to me than getting such a high tuning to sound heavy and also have it sound beautiful. It’s like a cheat to knowing when you’ve actually written something good.

I realize there are minor tonal and interval relationship differences between tunings, but honestly they all sound exactly like what they are, higher or lower versions of the same damn thing.

If you take this tuning and go 40 cents sharp (on a tuner, you have 5 steps on the left and right before hitting the next note, you want the 4th on the right) it's sounds amazing and the harmonics sound epic.

I never tuned below Standard, but the singer of my band worked so much that he wanted the rehearse easier. That's why we ended up Playing in Standard Eb, and occasionally in Drop C#, which is now my favourite tuning too.

This has been my go to guitar tuning since I started playing guitar. I’ve always felt the most inspired in this tuning and it just feels like home. Thank you for this video and giving this amazing tuning the recognition it deserves! 🤟

Any die hard Eddie Van Halen fan knows this lol BIG part of why he tuned-ish to E flat but tempered for his strong grip and brutal playing. The half step down really opens up the sound of an electric guitar, lower notes vibrate more and if you use thicker gauge strings you get a much fuller tone with more texture. I’ve notice guitars (doesn’t matter what brand and i’ve tested this on dozens of guitars in my studio) tuned to this stay in tune longer than standard tuning. And lastly, the tension on the strings IS lower which equates more playability

Been playing drop c# to Eb for years and years. All my recordings are in these tunings. It just has this edge that I like. Glad you’re digging it.

Ive played guitar for the past 15ish years and c# has always been the go-to for me. Everything i know is self taught and slowly learned the fretboard the same way. Music theroy is def still not my strong point but you slowly learn little tricks on how to pickup on where notes are even when tuned down. I may not can tell you what note or chord im playing but if it sounds good, im gonna rock with it. Keep rockin man! Really enjoy your vids!
