a late post but a diode fitted across the relay coil would be a good idea to stop induction voltage when relay switched off?

It's a great video and it's the simple fact that you're showing different ways in different factors I was just trying to figure out where the video feed with the two little wires goes to everything else is explanatory I'm installing it on an E90

An excellent video, well presented & easy to follow. I have a problem that I'm sure you'll be able to answer. I have a 2007 Peugeot Sport & I installed a Boscam K3 reversing camera & monitor system 3 years ago & it functions perfectly. Both the video & power feeds to the monitor travel in one lead from the camera which is powered directly from the reversing light bulb wire in the rear light harness cluster. However, our road & drive can be in pitch blackness during the hours when the council save a few quid by turning all the street lights off & locating the entrance to our drive to reverse in can be tricky, so I swapped the 21 watt filament bulb for an extra bright LED.
This caused the monitor to have flickering horizontal lines so I refitted the filament bulb & it works just fine. I was thinking that it might be fixed by fitting a load resistor to bring the LED wattage to equal that of the filament bulb. Thanks for your help.

Thank you so much for this. I've got a Toyotas Corolla hatch back and running the 12V camera power from the reverse light would have been a pita. I've got a connect 2 box (supplied by Aerpro here in Australia) so wiring it into the connect2 box will be much easier.

Only just found this, thanks for the detailed explanations of all the options. When using the relay from C2, can the C2 reliably handle the inductive load of the relay coil with no additional protection against back EMF?

I gave a "thumbs up" but was still hoping for a real-life instructional video, meaning, I am still a bit confused how this applies to my car. But I did learn a few things.

Exactly what I was looking for! couldn't figure out where the pink camera wire went and where the camera itself needed to get power from.
