His left hand technique has always bewildered me

My start in banjo picking began with Pete Seeger's little yellow booklet " How to play the 5 string banjo" and in it he was asked what does a banjo sound like? His reply: Fast as lightning and hard as nails".
Ain't that the truth and this performance is the ultimate in my opinion.

@MsFiddle1992 Are you kidding? Your playing was terrific! I've gotten many comments about how good it was. Sending a PM.

Something I've noticed about Mr. Mills in every video I've watched is that on top of being a great picker, he seems like such a great guy. From complementing someone's instrument to giving encouragement to a young player, it seems he's constantly finding ways to brighten the day of the people around him. I can't tell you how much I wish there were more people like him in this cutthroat industry of ours.

rueben was the tune earl said he was playing when he, at 9 0r 10 years old, found that he was playing the 3-fingered roll for the first time, that is the foundation of scruggs picking.

After years of frustration and "hiding in the closet" I finally figured out the most important things. One, play with others, Two, have fun! I've never seen any one throw rocks at a struggling banjo picker.

Please let me know if you're ever looking to sell that banjo. I like the tone.

Don't be so hard on yourself! Faith is the key, and you're still so young! Never compare yourself to people more then twice your age.

One thing Jim has mastered is Ruben hr is right up there with scruugs with that song.

Who are you referring to? You should never compare yourself to players who are older then you. They usually have more experience, so it is not a fair match. Just encouraging here, buddy.

Everyone talks about Ron Stewart as the "tone guru." But check Ron on YouTube and see how many videos he has in comparison to Jim! I think we all know who is the REAL tone guru!

Love Jim's playing he plays it powerful and hard, I try to do that too. The sound he gets out of it cool.
