Much better at understanding Dublinese than Merc :) The 3 has always been my fav BMW and this update won’t change that. Would look way better in a more exciting colour.

Great review as always. Very good looking car, really like the new styling. The interior is very nice indeed but I do agree about the metal looking parts on the centre console and the dash. M Sport spec is definitely a must.

Good review! Fan of BMW for over ten years now. I have owned the previous generation F30 3 series among others, but I am not sure about the latest styling. A front grille that’s too big and fake vents in the rear bumper and front wings combine with fussy detailing and a lack of purpose to some of the cars lines. The interiors have become overly ‘bling’ for my taste too. I know it’s to compete with Mercedes, Audi etc, but BMW have always had very clear instruments and sound ergonomics, something they seem to be moving away from here. The flap which covers the cup holders is very flimsy and too large, which doesn’t bode well for longevity. On the plus side, perceived quality overall looks higher and the iDrive screen much better integrated into the fascia. I am also sure, as you say, it’s an excellent car to drive and no doubt an improvement on the previous model. Bigger though, which is not great for our small and ever more congested roads and parking bays. It must be approaching the size of the original 7 series by now, it’s definitely bigger than the old 5. I love BMW’s six cylinder engines, so the 340i will be interesting. If only it looked a bit better and was maybe smaller...

Nice one Sinead. All aspects covered. 7 series gimmicks & technologies have filtered down to the 3. Beware of light or white coloured leather. BMW make nice cars. Pity about their dealers.
