Beautiful. No matter the language or country, it is reassuring to see the Catholic liturgy at the majestic Notre Dame in Paris is very similar to a Mass celebrated in a tiny rural church in North Carolina.

Back in 1999, I was in Paris. I had some hours to spend there whilst waiting on my flight back to Ireland. I attended Mass in the morning. Beautiful historic building. Christ is with us at all times. God bless all those involved in the reconstruction.

What a masterpiece of design, art and craftsmanship that building is. One of the treasures of Western Civilization.

We were lucky to visit Notre-Dame before the fire. We were on our own, walked through the cathedral and sat in the pews. It was an amazing experience to sit there and realize that worshipers has sat where we were sitting for nearly 900 years. So sad that it burned, so happy that the world helped to have it rebuilt. Even Hank Silver who had very special skills in historic carpentry was running a small carpentry business in Massachusetts, and through a carpentry contact in France, was asked if he wanted to join a team in Normandy preparing timber to rebuild the nave of Notre Dame. He said it was the highlight of his career.

The cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris is at the very heart of France: but in a strange way it also belongs to the entire world.... Christian or not. That is why it is so very special. As a brittanique I am overjoyed to see it restored to us....
