Great to see a ham radio license being used for home made equipment. Sometimes it feels like it's all too easy to just go and buy something off ebay these days when a lot of the hobby was about making your own hardware. Congratulations on the build, nice to see it working well for you.

I'm inclined to build this neat little amp myself. I'll need to review the original parts list for costing and availability. Apart from the 2SC1969 substitution issue, I'm guessing that after some 16 years many (most?) of the parts quoted in the original article -- other than resistors and caps, etc -- will be discontinued or need substitution.

This makes me wonder... With old rugged pre ctss mobiles going for a dime a dozen, does it make sense to use their finals and heat sinks to make home brew linear amps in this.power range?

I had connected the Minipa 100 linear amp, purchased from Aliexpress to the UBITX. Upon doing so the SWR has doubled. What could be the reason. Without the amp, the SWR is in the range of 1.1 to 1.7. But now it has crossed 2. Thanks in advance. VU3RHU, Mumbai.
