Literally crying right now. I have supported Orlando for six years and went through their highs and lows. I saw them completely tank, then narrowly miss the playoffs, then lose in a final, and then fail in the playoffs twice. This season feels complete. We won a title to put us in the CCL, we’re into the Leagues Cup after rule changes, and we have made the playoffs for a third year. I want to give a word to the players this year…
First, thanks to Adam Grinwis, Michael Halliday, Joey Dezart, Wilfredo Rivera, Nicholas Gioacchini, and Jack Lynn for their efforts.
Mason Stajduhar- helped save a point against Portland, proved to be critical
Pedro Gallese- undoubtedly Player of the Season. He saved Orlando way too many times than a goalkeeper should, and now that he’s in the playoffs, he should be up for “Goalkeeper of the Year” and should have more than one “Save of the Season” nominee.
Ruan- your pace is elite, your ability to start counter attacks on the wing is immaculate, and your ability to close down crosses is unmatched.
João Moutinho- your first complete seasons- no injuries, no mistakes, and proving that LAFC would’ve been a super club if they kept you. I am now proud to have you on this team, and Portugal should consider you for the international break.
César Araújo- arguably “Young Player of the Season.” Hands down one of the blessings of our transfer window. Your ability to command and defend are amazing, and your future is more than bright. Uruguay, look at this man!
Robin Jansson- If he didn’t get injured, he would’ve been on the “Defender of the Year” podium. Your size can seemingly push the most muscular off the ball, and my goodness were you a hero this year.
Alexandre Pato- Your injury did allow Orlando to actually shoot more and stop passing into defenders at the 18 yard line. Yet, your goals and assists were critical in wins.
Ercan Kara- Thank you for actually getting better. You sucked at the beginning of this season, but you found your form, learned to shoot on site, and now you have 12-13 goals in one MLS season. Bravo!
Mauricio Pereyra- Taking the captain’s armband from Nani was living up to a big name, but your ability to assist anyone at anytime and bag in many records a season, you are one of the best on this team.
Júnior Urso- you were a hero today (with Pedro) and you’ve been a hero all season. Corinthians suffered when they lost you, and we prospered with you in the lineup every game. Your shot as a CDM is great and your ability to control the midfield keeps Orlando at bay.
Tesho Akindele- I criticized you all season, but you found your form in the last 10 games. Instead of trotting to the ball while the goalkeeper casually waited to pick it up and constantly calling off runs as you were onside, you finally remembered how to sprint leading to many more goals and assists
Rodrigo Schlegel- You stepped up for Jansson and delivered. Not that many clean sheets, but made the right tackles at the right times
Wilder Cartagena- what an underrated signing. We could play a defensive 4-3-3 with him in, and his contributions did not go unnoticed as they helped pick up a struggling backline as he helped turn it into a playoff back line.
Facundo Torres- If he doesn’t get called into the Uruguay squad for the World Cup, either Diego Alonso is bitter that we beat him while he was at Inter Miami or the Uruguay selection committee want old players. He was the offensive player of the year for Orlando. Over 25 goal contributions in just under 40 games is exceptional. He is the future of Uruguay and will be at a big club if he continues this work. What a signing!
Benji Michel- he scores when it needs to count. That’s all there is to say. He knows how to make things work and knows how to silence crowds or make them cheer at the death. His goal that killed Sacramento will be remembered forever in OC history.
Andrés Perea- your goals are great, and your defensive work is fantastic
Jake Mulraney- I was worried he would sabotage us as an Atlanta player, but instead, he proved to be critical in games and especially at the death
Kyle Smith- one of the best substitute wingbacks in the league. His transformation under Pareja was ridiculous, and when he was subbed on, I always felt a win was still possible or in the books
Antonio Carlos- someone usually doesn’t recover from an injury like this. He was tipped to be the Defensive Player of the Year and a MLS All-Star, but he got injured. He turned it all around and made more than enough tackles in half the games that the likes of DC and Toronto’s defenders made the whole season
Alex Freeman/Thomas Williams- your future is bright, and when you were on the field, you were more trustworthy than most homegrowns.
Ivan Angulo- your crosses are fantastic and we’re very critical. An underrated signing that flopped at Palmeiras but will probably start in the playoffs against Montreal.
I talked about how MLS disrespected Orlando a lot this year; we were tipped to go out in the 4th round of all qualifying in the US Open Cup, weren’t included in playoff advertising (while for some reason, Houston was), obviously had games called in matchfixings that MLS ignored, and had no All-Star selections while fourth in the conference. Even 70% of our games on Google were tipped to be a loss. Even in this one we had a 61% chance of losing. Yet, Orlando pulled out all of this disrespect and proved why they are among the league’s best. I write this comment as a proud Orlando fan, and I’ll always be a Lion for life. Lastly, thank you to Oscar Pareja and his staff. At one point, everyone wanted you sacked, and instead of accepting the pay and ditching, you turned everything around and you are a “Coach of the Year” candidate.
Vamos Orlando!

At halftime Orlando City manager's speech might have been : "Crew is leading 1-0, we have them right where we want"

Good luck to Orlando in the playoffs. This Crew game was a microcosm of the entire season. Can't hold a lead to save their lives.

I would say Porter out, but I'm scared the new owners won't know how to vet the next coach. Hope he gets a budget to revamp the back line. Cucho was too selfish in areas he had no reason to be selfish in. Porter better get the attacking side sorted too ffs
