This is terrific, thanks for posting. It should be noted, however, that the fan who recorded the great Shot Heard Round the World was indeed a NY Giants fans. Lawrence Goldberg had just gotten the recorder. He was away at work Oct. 3, 1951, and he asked his mom to run the machine during the game. He came home that day to learn that his mother indeed had turned on the reel to reel and recorded one of baseball's greatest moments. He deserves baseball's gratitude for that.

What I am trying to find are simulated game radio broadcasts by Russ Hodges from that era. I used to listen to them as a kid and remember he would rap his pencil on the microphone when a batter swung and hit the ball, and he would recreate the action from a teletype of what had happened--grounder to third, single to left, etc. It was fascinating, and back in the '50s it was the only way to 'hear' a game sometimes.
