Thanks Keith, i did find some an example that showed the clock time and updated every few seconds. Your code is much simpler i will have to pick mine apart and clean it up like urs. im know trying to put it in a table and update it by adding it to the next row. i work in a r&d dept with electronics dept and am challenging myself to l learn python to make myself valuable.i come from labview. i figure if i can read measurement, show on screen live while automatic save to file by a date code. next step would be to use a diff tab and user can also open a previous day recording/test that would be useful. i currently read modbus, and have another coming from amazon that is 4-20 and will use a Arduino for that . its really fun doing little bits and bringing it altogether. python is so useful.
