Put the cursor over the square Windows icon in the lower left screen, right click, choose system. This is for Windows 10.

That you have a 32 bit version of the Windows Operating System. 32-Bit can only support up to 3.2 GB of ram, while 64 bit can support ridiculous amounts.

I have spent some time looking for how to find out how much *_AVAILABLE_* memory I have (not intstalled memory).
I'm writing programs for my grandson using Microsoft MakeCode, and I think the interpreter has a memory leak. When I start, it runs fine, but after an hour's development, it starts to run slower and slower, till it is almost completely bogged down. Then if I exit MakeCode and FireFox and restart them, it all runs fine again.
The problem is that picking up the strings again in MakeCode takes a while, with extra modules to reload manually etc.
I would really like to see if my available memory is getting less and less. How can I see it?
(I'm on Windows-7, and the laptop has 8GB memory)

It depends on how much total hard drive space you have. You should always have at least 20-30% of your hard drive free. So if you have 1 TB (1000 GB) total, and only have 233 GB left, then you should start thinking about freeing up some space, but if you have a 250 GB hard drive and have 233 GB free then you have nothing to worry about.

8 GB is plenty for a normal user, such as web browsing, gaming, and word processing. If you are heavy into CAD, graphics processing, or 3D rendering, it could slow down a bit. You can see how much of your ram you are using at any point in time by opening up the task manager, and going to the performance tab. In the memory box on the side as long as it isn't maxed out then you should be fine.

It's misleading about how it says that, it's nothing to worry about. Basically, you have 4 Gigabytes of ram, which is plenty in normal circumstances. But if you're doing a lot of video editing and things it could speed it up a little if you added more ram.
