"With the euphoria over winning four out of five states, for BJP the actual results are now sinking in. The broad smiles have begun to turn into grins with a tinge of worry very evident. In these five state elections, the BJP retained power but did not come out unscathed. They were down 50 seats compared to the 2017 elections in these states. The only thing they can be happy about is that they did not do as bad as the Congress Party, which was the biggest loser. Over the past few months, gone unnoticed, the BJP has been losing MLA seats across the country. Its national tally of BJP in the past two months alone is down by close to 85 seats. With election dues in another 12 states before the 2024 elections – the BJP needs to get its act in order. The same is further amplified if one looks at the BJP Lok Sabha seats which have also been going down since 2019. This reduction is a result of losing several bye-elections. Simple arithmetic and you will see that BJP could well face stiff competition in the 2024 elections if the opposition gets its act together. With numbers of MLA having and election going to happen in the next 2 years it is difficult to predict the outcome at Centre, because Mr Modi as a person scored more for BJP during loksabka elections than what is scored by respective CM. Always Mr Modi garnered more seats in loksabha than assembly election. All matters are how Congress able to regroup and lead alliance, how with out breaking of BJP opposition votes are captured by a UPA alliance. This is important to decide the winner.
