The movement in the pilot watch is a clone of the Eta Unitas 6497 and may be the best movement you can get in an affordable watch.

I find to hard to justify paying more than 200 for any watch, expecially chinese brands. If I had 500$, I would buy Hamilton or Tissot but not San Martin.

As far as I know, a VK movement stopwatch will run for an hour and then stop itself.
So battery drain will be minimal.
