The Buzz Lightyear movie...Lightyear, is coming this year! And look at that, just in time for the new Lightyear trailer! So it seemed like a good time to find some great moments in the Toy Story franchise. This one isn't perfect, but there's lots to love. Here's everything right with Toy Story!

The "Buzz look an alien!!!" "Where?!?" "AHAHAHAHA" still makes me laugh to this day, along with the "YOU ARE A Mrs Nesbitt and the "Buzz will you give me a hand?"

The shark roasting Woody is for some reason one of my favorite movie moments of all time. Something about a shark wearing a cowboy hat, his face being kind of emotionless because of the type of toy he is, and the fact that his impression is just him going "howdy, howdy, howdy, " impacted me so much as a kid that over 20 years later I'll just say that line aloud sometimes and laugh to myself. Or do it if I see a cowboy hat, or any funny hat at all. I love that shark 🤣

"Buzz Lightyear's workout routine" - I laughed more than I should have.

My favorite line from this movie - honestly this entire franchise - is Buzz going "I don't believe that man has ever been to medical school" when Sid is performing his "operation"

My favorite woody line recently had been "the words i want to say i cant say because there are playschool toys present" or something close to that, its a throw away line that i didnt pick up growing up

5:53 - Fun Fact: If you watch the directors commentary on the DVD for this movie they mention how Woody's little "two-step not having it" glance apparently reduced all the lead animators and directors to tears in laughter when the scene was first rendered.

Missed win: The way they got the movement for the army men right was to stick wooden planks to their shoes, and base the animation off of how they moved.

Now that I'm older and understand more, that moment at 12:57 "Take care of Andy for me" It's like a 5 second clip and my eyes start watering. Woody was about to give up. And Buzz couldn't accept losing the friend he'd just found in him. Just something about the voice acting really makes this line hit for me. Woody's defeat and Buzz's desperation. I love this movie

If you want to get _really_ meta, you could say in the 'real' world, Tim Allen provided the voice for Buzz's talk function, so having a tool box referring to Home Improvement actually makes sense.

3:15 Missed win opportunity: "Just go!"
"A good soldier never leaves a man behind!" Loyalty win!

Will forever remain a classic. The animation may have aged, but it's still such a joy to watch.

I love that line from Potato Head “Well, what happens if Andy decides to start playing with ME more, huh? Ya gonna knock me out of the window too?!” He has a completely valid point and hits way too close to the truth for Woody and his jealousy, even if he’s wrong that Woody intended to knock Buzz out the window.

8:38 The tone shift in this movie scared me half to death as a kid. I remember hiding from the spider robot with the doll head when it came on screen.

"You know those wings would stop deploying after the second flight." As someone who had a Buzz toy, they did not.

So Jim went from voicing Woody’s pull cord lines to fully voicing Woody in Kingdom Hearts 3. Talk about progress.

This movie is one of my earliest memories as a kid. My grandmother had put it on for us on vhs and I remember buzz being the coolest thing I’d ever seen! My grandfather has fond memories of it since the day he had come home our grandma told him we needed to watch this with us. In the scene where buzz shows up he’s told us we yelled out BUZZ in pure excitement and how he’s always been brought back to those days whenever he watches it with our younger siblings even now. Love this movie and will always be a personal favorite!

8:51 I appreciate the attention to detail on Buzz's glow in the dark parts.

They're the exact level of glow you'd get on those star stickers your parents would put on your ceiling to try, and fail, and make you not afraid of the dark

13:54 Any time i hear a mourning dove it triggers a very strong sense of nostalgia so that plus this whole video i think that actually sent me back in time.

One of my favorite details is the difference in the handwriting on Woody and Buzz’s feet. Andy’s name on Woody is shaky, the letters uneven in size and some parts are smudged. Perfect illustration of a younger child’s handwriting, even has the backwards N!!

The one question I always have about the whole sentient toy thing is how do _building toys_ work. Like Lego and its many clones. They're designed to be pulled apart and reassembled, as are the figures. A lot of minifigs on the usual sets are just ciphers, but move into their licensed and story-based themes and you get actual characters. If someone pulls apart their Ninjago or Monkie Kid minifigs and reassembles them into new characters, how does that _work?_ Moreover, how does _Bionicle_ work? The entire purpose with those sets is creating specific characters, but I've got shelves full of Bonkles and not a single one of them is an official set, they're all characters of my own design.
