Having worked in retail customer service in the UK at a store that was regularly shoplifted and armed robbed twice, I 100% agree that there is nothing in a store that is worth putting your life at risk to prevent being stolen. Also, when I saw the amount of food that was binned as 'wasted off' at the end of each night, rather than being given to food banks or local charities, I was surprised that the place wasn't ram raided at some point to be honest.

They support a company’s right to screw over their employees (how many times have we heard “hey, you signed a contract when you were employed”), but they also want you to put yourself in danger to save that same company’s profits. Tell me again how Republicans are concerned for “the little guy”?

As a retail worker I can’t comprehend why people try and stop thieves?! We are working for billion dollar corporations who make unimaginable amounts of money and wince giving us 10 min breaks… if you can carry it you can have it im not intervening

We actually get into trouble for trying to stop shoplifters. It’s a bigger liability if we’re hurt on shift, rather than writing off stolen products.

You can tell the hosts have never worked in the customer service sector. Our hands are tied a lot of the time to do anything but try to dissuade them with customer service.(following them and employees taking turns asking if they need help.)

What company wants a lawsuit over what a person can stuff in their pockets?

I worked in a grocery store for several years. The rule was always that if you saw someone shoplifting, you didn’t.
The one time a naive coworker tried pointing out that someone was shoplifting our manager told them just to ignore it.
