Can We Make This Rusty Valve Grinder Work?

This Kwik Way valve grinder hasn't been used in over 30 years. It has been sitting in a storage building that the floor rotted out in and everything is seized up. Can we get everything freed up and working again?

Great to see old machines and tools getting a little TLC and coming back into useful condition again.

It nice to be able to grind your own valves and seats I priced out a valve grind for a 8N Ford tractor which is a 4 cylinder and the average cost estimate was $400 so I found an old Sioux valve grinder for $200 but it was in rough shape but I plan on doing what you did with oil and patience and hopefully I will have success but keep that old iron running 😀🇨🇦

Nice recovery! Any good accessories in that old wooden stand (maybe some new grinding wheels)?

Good find and glad you got it working. Make sure you keep an eye on your top margin or meat on left on top edge that you don’t grind or the valve head can shatter. Only seen it once in my time but you can imagine what a valve head shattering can do. When you get to the valve seats is when you will have the 3 angles. You use the angles control where the valve seat and valve contact as well as how much. I remembered a pretty good description that I saw when I ordered my last valve seat cutter so if you go to newaymfg.com it may be useful. Looks like progress to me. Thanks for sharing!
