This dude literally taught me drywall by watching most his videos and I have never had any problems with any of my drywall work. An awesome teacher!

Isn’t YouTube so great, this man makes a whole career of just doing drywall repairs. Posting them and helping people like you and I with every day jobs.

I own a drywall company, been doing it for 20 years. This guy knows what he's talking about from what I've watched so far. Kudos buddy.

Watching your videos is like watching myself work. I work very similar to you and I've picked up numerous tips from you. Thanks for taking the time to do this and I hope you make a lot of money from this. You deserve everything you can get out of these post.

Just seen this video and remembered your voice and face from about 3-4 years ago when I was doing the drywall in my house. Man I just got hit with all the memories and moments from that adventure lol

I added dry wall repair to my painting business and always make sure to fasten down the existing drywall when making repairs. If u are unsure about a space adding more secure backing is better than dealing with later problems.

Very helpful I often forget as my need to mud and screen is not that often, but thanks to you when I do, my repairs and finishing are much better, certainly no worse than local boys

Whenever I’m hanging drywall I look at every corner and doorway to see where problems might occur. Lots of times in corners and doorframes the studs are not 16” apart and there may be nothing for you to screw the drywall to. Or the studs may be warped or not square. So I add extra wood to problematic places to make it easier. I’d rather add an extra 2x4 than have to cut up a bunch of drywall sheets to try to fit the odd spacing.

It would be interesting to see you feather a joint against a clear sheet of plexiglass or something to see the layers of mud. Ive always been curious to see what it looks from a side perspective

I definitely approve this video. I'm a plaster exclamation point and I also do drywall level 5 type of stuff. And a lot of Patchwork between plumbers and electricians. This is a very very excellent video

This is the one thing that my dumb DIY self figured out before I found your channel! I usually learn something but I am totally cool with validation.

Pretyy obvious and self explanatory if you have a basic understanding of what you're doing, but judging by the comments - very much needed, so kudos to you, keep it up!

That's great. I do a lot of patch work when necessary and I have literally never thought about that. Good tip

On the chance if the drywall is really spaced far off the old shunken or "bowed back" studs, I recommend to put more screws down the length of that stud to prevent the single screw near the edge from popping later. But Ben's great explanation is if the wall is fairly flat.
Another trick I have done if it's so far that is making the wall look crazy, you can shim the space and then run spray foam along the stud inside the wall as far as you can reach -locking it all down solid.
