Journey to the Château, Ep. 229 - In this Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart continue their constant battle with nature at the chateau. The destructive ivy growing on their tower is invasive and actually rooted and growing from within the stone tower walls. They also meet up with friends at a local brocante (antique fair/flea market) and purchase a pair of beautiful headboards. There is also an update on Figaro, the kitten that they found and rescued when it was less than 4 weeks old.

Enjoying your journey through the ivy from my own journey to Patrick’s ‘Heimat’, Hamburg! I think that I drew the long straw this time 😁 Keep going, you’ll eventually win the ivy battle! I have full confidence in both your perseverance 💪💪

Hi Patrick and Stuart, I love the headboards, and when I noticed them in passing, I hoped you might just have a place for them in the Chateau. Now to see how the room you have planned for them comes together. Mark & Scott

Love that you show brocante shopping. Ivy, ivy, ivy. Ugh . Too bad about the cement …good that we now know it is the wrong substance for repairs. Figaro is so sweet.

Everytime you show the brocantes I pick out all the things I would buy! Headboards are stunning xx

There is something quintessentially English seeing ivy covered stone walls but it is so destructive! That looked like really hard work, Patrick.
Those are lovey steps too. Worth restoring, in my opinion. The fig tree is a bonus! In honour of Lord Figaro!
Always love brocante shopping with you two! 💕

Really enjoyed the video thank you 😊 with the ivy stump maybe you could treat it like you can tree stumps. Drill holes in it and pour in stump killer xx the headboards are gorgeous as is Figaro 💙

Lovely beds! I’ve missed you both. Been gone awhile without WiFi; but so fun to come home knowing I can catch up. Hugs!

Good for you tackling the ivy! It is pernicious. I like seeing these other areas of your chateau. The stairs, rounded wall and doors offer a lovely architectural vignette. I'm sure there are many other such scenes on your property. I enjoy seeing these picturesque little corners. And more figs - yum! I believe fig jam goes very well with any number of French cheeses ...

Our family home in Pennsylvania was made of brick but the ivy grew so much that you couldn’t tell! It had lots of critters living in it too. Many birds nests. I thought it was beautiful. When my mother and brothers took it all down I was so upset! The house looked bare. But they had to have the entire houses pointed again. Love seeing little Figaro looking some comfy with you both. They easily get into your hearts❤❤️❤️

Love, love, love seeing different angles and hidden little details of your chateau! It is always so interesting and beautiful. Maybe im just a weird historic architecture nerd 😂 but it feeds my imagination and makes me happy.

Not a boring life for you guys😊 there’s plenty to do, on top of everything you have the ongoing task of the ivy. It is lovely to see Figaro each week, he is such a sweet darling, it will be a thrill to see him meet the extended family, when he’s ready ❤❤👋

Figaro is in for a shock when he finds out he’s not the only pet in the household. It’s like thinking you’re an only child and finding out you have a dozen siblings.

Mineral turpentine, cut back and pour some into any cuts. Keep doing it. I did that to bamboo, I couldn't dig out as it grew into a fence, it didn't return.

You can see and feel the love and confidence in Figuaro's eyes! He knows that he has the best parents and home ever! I have a feeling that he and your dogs will bond very well! Love from Michigan, USA

The headboard is gorgeous, and I can't wait to see them in the second bed-and-breakfast room. Love the Figaro update (there can never be too many of those 😍🥰).
