Long Range 18650 Battery Build for 30 min flight

Trying to find a solution to go long range is pretty dificult so after so research I decided to make my own 18650 4S lipo packs and connect 2 in parallel to get 6000mah and flight times of 20-30 minutes.
Initial hover test after I made the packs used 3000mah in 16 minutes of 30% throttle at 22amps peak and everything was cool.

I used Sony and the specs are below
VTC6 Battery Specs:
Nominal Capacity: 3120mAh.
Rated Capacity: 3000mAh.
Max Continuous Discharge Current for temp. up to 80 degrees Celsius: 30A.
Max Continuous Discharge Current: 20A.
Nominal Voltage: 3.6V/3.7V.
Full charge Voltage: 4.2V.
Internal Impedance 13 mΩ measured by AC 1kHz.
Diameter 18.45mm max +/- 0.05mm.

There are also the 21700 cells at 4000mah capacity. Something to consider where you might be able to save a bit of weight while reduced capacity wint be all that bad.

This is my take after I recently built a 6s2p pack out of some 2000mah cells I had. I ordered too many of a smaller cells so I went big and wound up with a 650g pack. The parallel arrangement gives me a lot of available current.

But a 21700 based 6s pack could have the same capacity, possibly weigh 200g less, and give me 35-45 amps available compared to the 40-60amps available with my 6s2p.

My 7in flew 17 minutes landing at 3volts per cell while cruising at 40-50mph and 10-12 amps the entire time. A 200g weight loss is likely to pick up a fair amount of time.

Any 6s2p I build in the future will be using 3000mah cells.

Currently I'm using 11.1v 2200mah battery Ian getting a flight time of 3 min when I hang my mobile phone to record video without gimbal

iv never considered using 18650 packs for a quad, only ever used these in fixed wings, nano talon, s800, ect. im going to give this a try..

Hey i would recommend Samsung 20s 18650 30a continuous it is the best battery for drone i would recommend you to do a review on them it will give you much much more better performance
