im 41, good credit score, 0 ticket, 0 at fault accident on my insurance. tried to rent a basic honda civic listed at 34$ for 3 days. its a last minute booking (same day pick up), the total was abt $113 but bullshite the trip fee was around $105. i can get similar car at burbank airport car rentals for 10-20% cheaper and it will be less risk for me as credit card will cover insurance, dont have to deal with potential turo scammy or incompetent host, car will be most likely well maintained.

This greedy trip fee and its weird algorithm is screwing both host and renters. this dumb p2p business model only works for a small percentage of market with particular needs. i cant wait for the ipo where the vcs will cash out on dumb money and i will short it.

Their trip fees are absolutely insane. Turo used to be good when it first came out but they got way too greedy on the trip fee.

TL;DR: The platform with the best host experience is going to win.

Excited for more players in the space. Mr. Haddad can say whatever he wants about being customer obsessed but it is up to hosts to complete the promised customer experience and Turo simply has not valued their hosts enough. Need proof? Look no further than this interview, zero credit was given to hosts for Turos growth and eventual profitability, but our assets (cars) and the CEOs tenure were boasted.

This is BS, I got kicked off the Turo platform after immediately returning my first horrible rental in minutes after getting a filthy car with check engine light and failed rear brake light. Turo promised me a refund then made me jump thru hoops to get it before they denied me so I disputed the charge with my Discover card and won. I got a nasty email from Turo telling me that they acknowledged my open dispute and I was suspended from their platform. That was in 2022 and I'm STILL suspended in 2023. Turo can kick rocks, they need some competition!

Turo: “You can rent your car directly to another person, but we’re going to take a cut.”

Uber: “We will rent you a car, so that you can make money, so that we can take a cut.“

I jumped one of their cars off a ramp and was barred from their service.

Last year, 2022, I bought 9 cars to put on Turo platform. It has always been a nightmare.
My 2018 Jeep Wrangler ($34, 000) was stolen right after the guest returned it at the airport parking lot at DEN. Turo does not want to cover my loss. Please, anyone out there who could help me 😢
