I have respect for old school conservatives who want their party back. Trump is an entertainer and knows how to read an audience. Unfortunately he tapped into the lowest common denominator in his birther movement because of his dislike of Obama. This got him the GOP presidential nomination and ultimately the electoral college on the first go around. 2016 counts as a success, but everyone, absolutely everyone, expected him to pivot once he was in office. But being nothing more than an entertainer, he was incapable of fulfilling the role of president.

He has never had an approval rating even close to 50 percent and has been insulting Democrats, independents and a lot of Republicans ever since. How anyone can logically say that the 2020 election was stolen is not looking at the math. He has only performed to his base or got the votes of people who ignore politics and believed some of the hype as they cast their ballots. Absolutely everyone who pays careful attention is polarized. The Fox News and Newsmax crowd are going to vote for him, a political independents who don’t want to know may vote for him, but the rest will vote against him in the general election.

It is important that everyone votes, even those in deep red states. His defeat must not be marginal but absolute.

Harris' critics will never be satisfied with the answers she gives. There will always be something that disqualifies her from breathing the air that patriotic Americans breathe, to say nothing of holding elected office. On this basis, we can ignore their critique as not meaningful, not signifying anything. Harris probably ought to continue to improve on her message. Voters deserve to know more about how she will handle things. But she shouldn't be turning cartwheels to satisfy MAGA voters or politicians because they don't care about the answers. It's the challenge to her legitimacy that matters.
