Being an Indian, I really would like the crypto to go mainstream in India. However, to make it mainstream most of the people in India would need it to be regulated by Indian Govt. body. One of my friend who works in Securities and Exchange Board of India told that the main problem is what the people who actually look after the regulations are yet to get hold of block chain technology. Either they need to give some time to check the actual intricacies of blockchain or they would need someone who would give them the complete detail. I don't think crypto would go mainstream unless and until Govt of India intervenes and make people believe that it is safe to do transactions using cryptos.

India's Central bank RBI is very uncomfortable with bitcoin, they are formulating a legislation for crypto and it doesn't look good, I myself am quite worried about RBI's stance. There have been rumors of RBI's own crypto currency Laxmi. BTW nice research and analysis of Indian market.
PS, I don't think India's love for gold has anything to digital gold, gold is popular in Indian women cause gold ornaments are a big part of India's culture and tradition.
