If you have trouble catching on or are in a big hurry to get out the door, slow down this video, copy the knot with your tie around a clean quart bottle or something similar. This knot slips so it is easy to then pull the neck loop over your head, pull the end to fit snug to your neck, and then adjust your tie and collar in the mirror. When you have more time later, definitely keep practicing until you can tie it around your own neck quickly from memory. Tying a tie is a valuable manly life skill in western culture. Learn a couple different knots you like and how to tie a bowtie.

BTW, don't leave your ties tied day after day. This ruins ties quickly when with care they should last for decades or until the universe conspires to take them out with pasta sauce or bird poo. Plus wearing them pre-tied always looks worse, than when you untie them and hang them up after use. A tie needs to hang for a few hours at least to air out, un-wrinkle, and regain its proper shape before it is ready to be tied and worn again.
