I think some youtubers WERE changing the thumbnails manually before the rollout of this ABC testing feature. I think Veritasium had a video where Derek tells that they do so.

Your thumbnail wasnt bad though. Mr breast workers need to be quiet. Their target audience is comparatively much younger than yours. What attracts a bunch of 8-12 year olds to click a thumbnail differs from your audience of teenages to young adults

The problem… the feature tests the retention rate, so when u already used the one thumbnail, folks knowing they watched the video, but for the new thumbnails, they click, see they already watched an go away
