Thank you Rahdo for making me love board games. Three years into the hobby now thanks to your enthusiasm. I have discovered all my favorites thanks to your run-throughs: Grand Austria Hotel, Lewis & Clark, Clans of Caledonia, Fresco, Amerigo, Shakespeare to name a few. These games and many others have provided me hundreds of hours quality time and enjoyment. Thank you.

Makes me doubly glad I own the game, can't wait to get it on the table!

5:30 Interesting! A 2-player issue, perhaps? For Quacks, we’ve found the game encourages more risk-taking at the end. If you blow up in the round before the final round (or even the round before that) you forgo income and hope your bag delivers for you for the rest of the game. The final round (maybe not for only two players) practically demands all-on-the-line push-your-luck (maybe the game of chicken would be a better description) between the top scoring players (therefore the need for that round to have players pull ingredients simultaneously as opposed to the individual pace of earlier rounds).

Stefan Dorra did Kreta which has the similar hand management of Concordia, which was published in 2005, long before Concordia. The change is that in kreta when you play the card to take back your cards, you take back your cards, and everyone gets their cards back as well, scoring the majorities.

Feels like they could have a map with fewer spaces printed on the back of the board for smaller player counts.

Played this game for the first time last night. I may have lost but I had fun doing it. This is such a great game!

Well spoken final thoughts - looks wonderful, and it's certainly a richer experience than, say, Thebes. I was honestly hoping for an even deeper, more complex game without the cartoony art...kinda like Shipyard is to Nauticus. I even thought Adam Kaluza (K2) would have designed a serious diving game with aspects such as decompression, wreck diving, cave diving, and nitrogen narcosis built in to the framework of the design. As a diver, that would have been more compelling.

As a gateway-ish game, however, you've done a good job of selling me on it's positive qualities and I will look for it when it hits retail. Thanks, Rahdo!

I struggled so much with the colors of the gems when you pulled them out. I thought silvers were blacks, and with your last dive Rahdo, I thought you had 4 silvers and no gold. I really hope they make the gold more like Pay Dirt gold, where it stands out. Silver should be more chrome in my opinion too. Glad to know it wasn't just me that had this issue.

Have you tried "The Captain returns" variant and if so, how did you feel about it?

I guess we could use Karuba's gold nuggets if they are of the right size? ;-)

I have to disagree that picking up your cards in Concordia and Lewis and Clark compares to the rest action in this game. In Concordia, it gives you additional income as well as a Forum tile if you are playing with the expansion. In Lewis and Clark, it’s how you win the game, by using your cards and making camp to pick them up. With this game, it feels like you are actually wasting a turn. Not a fair comparison in my eyes.

If you ever do one of those DNA tests you definitely will not find any icy Scandinavian genes. I love your passion, enthusiasm and charisma. You warm my frozen soul ☀️🕺

Kind of shocked by this one. It really, really fell flat for us. There is so little going on overall.
