How to take photos of the sun
Intro is strangely messed up, but no time to fix (encoding error not rendering error)

Do not Look directly at the sun, and do not point your camera directly at the sun without protection.

I just love how you can see the sun spots like that, it's absolutely amazing! Thanks for the filter trick, I was having problems finding a cheap filter lens online but this sure did help considering I have a whole box full of floppies :)

great! is beautiful! unfortunately is quite hard to get one of those old floppy disk, would a neutral-density filter ND16 work?

Very excited to see the photos you get of the eclipse. In Virginia I don't think I'll be able to see it very well

I will be using this during the 2017 eclipse across America

Hi... thanks for the video. I am wondering if you were able to capture solar flare on surface of the sun? Maybe from part of the sun. I am interested in using my DSLR to take a picture of the sun's surface flare. Thank you again.

You can also buy welding shield glass for cheap at Home Depot.

Not all cameras need to be set at infinity, sometimes infinity is too far, and it needs to be set back a tad.

I've done this on 6/June/2012 during the Venus transit. But I photographed the Sun through my 6" telescope and not through a telescopic lens. So my images were much sharper than yours. I used some Astrobaader A4 filter, it reduces solar brightness by a factor of 5 (or 100, 000 times less brightness).

Cool, Is it possible to know if its true that  other type size planet will be next to the sun. Some say this year it will affect our own gravity and bring destructon

Man finding the floppy was easy, I use them for my backups.
You only need about 28250 of them to backup LotR: Shadow of Mordor.

This reminds me of a cool IR mod I did to a webcam using old camera film.

Thats cool never thought of that. Basically using the floppy disk as an epic ND filter!

Magnetic films such as in floppy disks are diffusing the light very hard so you can never focus well enough. I suggest using welder's glass. That glass is not a colloid, but a solution and thus transparent.
Also, magnetic films are mostly transparent to infrared so watching the Sun through it will certainly damage the eyes, and can damage the camera sensor. Welder's glass (13, 14 for eyes and cameras, 12 and lower for cameras only) are opaque to infrared.
