Cascade Mountain Scenic Drive in the Columbia River Gorge 4K Oregon

Starting in Corbett, Oregon, our drive east on I-84 through the Columbia River Gorge and Cascade Mountains offers a stunning visual feast. As we travel, the highway hugs the southern bank of the Columbia River, revealing breathtaking vistas of the gorge's towering cliffs and the expansive river below. The route provides glimpses of the historic Columbia River Highway, now a scenic trail, and landmarks like Crown Point Vista House, perched dramatically on a cliff 733 feet above the river. The scenery shifts from lush, moss-covered forests to more arid landscapes as we approach Hood River, all while mountains like Larch and Dog Mountain frame our journey through one of Oregon's most celebrated scenic areas.

Couldn't have picked a nicer day. I drove this route in the opposite direction when I first came to Oregon in 1980. I was really excited about seeing the "big trees" when I got to the Portland area. So I drove to a park and just sat back, staring up at all those 150 ft monsters for what seemed like hours.

It's crazy how fast the geography changes in just an hour!

It was a fun sight to see, with a big river on one side and a railway line on the other. The most surprising thing was the freight train, which seemed to be about a mile long. The wind turbines towering on the hill were also magnificent. Thank you!
