Parenting is tough, my parents did a good (IMHO) job, I think I've done pretty well, but social media has definitely made it tougher. I would add that as long as television has been around, hollyweird, etc has had such influence, it's just that now the influencers and the influencees run the gamut from rich to poor, good to evil, and everywhere in between. It's a weird time we're in.

Agreed.

These temu "shop like a billionaire" commercials are also cringy and toxic. Even if its cheap the average person cant shop like that.

Making your own clothing ain't that hard. I have this habit: If I want something I think is cool, first I see how hard it would be to make it myself. If it's not that hard, and I really want it, I'll make it myself. If it _is_ hard, then I have to decide if it worth the _labor_ it would take to earn the money to pay for it. This is a great filter for frivolous stuff that I don't really need. I've made a couple of Victorian style decorative walking canes (I need to make a new one, because I can't find the ones I made when I was a teen). A few months ago, I made a very nice bracket for storing a large rolling pin that is otherwise awkward to store in the cupboard. I know how to make fancy hats (haven't actually done it, as material and equipment is beyond my budget right now). I learned book binding a few years ago. I'm working on starting a laser cutting business, making educational kits, and I'm working on designs for small scale electric generators that are simple to make and can charge USB devices.

Spending thousands of dollars on a clothing shopping spree is stupid, because you can buy a sewing machine, a serger, fabric, thread, patterns, and everything else you need to make all of that clothing for under $1, 000, and with a little practice you can then make _custom clothing_ that's better than _anything_ you could buy at the store for much cheaper even _if_ you calculate in the value of your time. (And if you are an influencer, you could transition your social media to fashion design and clothing construction, so that you are actually _giving value_ to the world instead of just taking it! Also, making custom stuff is _so_ satisfying! There ain't no Guchi as good as an outfit you make yourself, to the exact specifications _you want, _ with materials that are much higher quality than _the top_ clothing companies use!)

Bro I had enough clothes for just one week. I hate the spoiled brats. They can waste their money like this. Use your money for something Productive something that’ll give you equity not a liability

You see more of what you signal. Have you tried building fresh social media accounts? Take care what you like online, and who you follow.
