just wanted to show how i start a chevy 350 on the engine stand not saying it's the right way just showing my way. When I got to the starter wires I said, "little red starter" and meant to say "little red wire" which is actually a purple 10-gauge wire that's on the truck or car. and it's not a coil on the starter it's a solenoid that activates to turn the starter over. Not trying to give wrong information or confuse anyone.

I love this video because it is simple to understand and helps a ton for beginners who don't know the basic requirements for starting an engine on an engine stand. I just rebuilt my first 350 and am about to do this very same thing.

So is there water pumping into the water pump of that thing cuz of the thermostat on the top and the manifold has no hose so it's burning up nice

I want to do what you did building a small block with carb and efi distributor at first on the engine stand, I'm thinking that I want to run all OEM alternator, power steering pump, tensioner, harmonic balancer and pulley, water pump .
The reason being is if one of these components fail I want to be able to get a replacement from a junk yard or get a OEM replacement from the dealership.
I worry that if I buy like a fancy aluminum water pump from Jegs or summit maybe they mount up different and so I would be required to buy a replacement from Jegs or Summit, I'm thinking that there brackets might be different.
The parts at the pick n pull are plentiful

Do you need any vacuum lines going to the carb or distributor?
How's the alternator bolt up or is it already on there ?
Cool video
