The Ultra Mates - The Huckle-Buck (1962)

Показать описание
The Huckle-Buck, a jazz/R&B dance tune was originally recorded in 1949 by Paul Williams & His Hucklebuckers. The song itself became a big dance sensation. That same year, vocal versions were released, among others, by Roy Milton, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Frank Sinatra, Lionel Hampton, & Pearl Bailey. Chubby Checker took his version to #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960. The Royal Showband had a #1 hit with their version in Ireland in 1965. In England, the band Coast To Coast took their version to #5 on the UK charts in 1981. To this date, there have been versions of "The Huckle-buck" in various musical genres, including pop, jazz, rockabilly, easy listening, R&B, Latin, ska, soul, and even punk. The Ultra Mates were actually the Blossoms, former Phil Spector stalwarts. Backed by an ace studio combo, these ladies released their version in 1962. Even though it never made the charts, it's still a fun song to dance the Huckle-Buck to.
