5th Democratic Debate Winners and Losers | QT Politics

The fifth democratic debate featured Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Andrew Yang, Tulsi Gabbard, Amy Klobuchar, Cory Booker and Tom Steyer. The event was held in at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, and hosted by MSNBC and the Washington Post.

While the November debate had far less discussion about healthcare than previous debates, and was nevertheless made up significantly—particularly in the first 30 minutes—of stump speeches and discussions that, at this point, we've heard over and over again, the debate had plenty of decisive moments: one-liners, gaffes, and heated exchanges.

In the coming days, I'll give you a breakdown of what I took to be the most significant moments in the 5th debate, but for now, I want to talk about the winners and losers: who likely gained momentum from the event, and who hurt their campaign.

So, who lost the fifth democratic debate, who made little difference to their current status, and...

Who won?

Question Time features video essays about politics, history and culture, with a particular focus on the United States of America. Topics are inspired by events and trends in news and current affairs, and attempt to provide context for a robust discussion in the comments section. All opinions presented in videos are my own, but yours matter, too. Your thoughts are highly valued, even when you don't agree. At the heart of every vibrant democracy are ordinary people, engaged in debate over policy and values.

Yang deserves more Media time
He is too polite

Yang turned seconds into substance. He was also given some of the weirdest questions. He easily won the debate

I'm tired of Yang getting screwed over by the moderators in terms of airtime. He gets better coverage from Fox News or from the View.

Why does YANG get less time then anybody EVEN STEYER. Its like the media doesn't want his ideas

Yang really is getting screwed when Amy and Tom are taking up more talking time. Yang is by far the most interesting candidate we have had in a long time. He deserves more spotlight.

Nonsense debate system when yang doesn't get airtime

Now that Yang is at war with MSNBC I think he's about to start getting a lot more attention.

That only blafrican American woman elected to the US Senate line while being on stage with a current African American senator is actually hugely concerning. Genuinely concerned about Biden's state of mind.

I hope Steyer drops out and donate a couple $M to Yang.

Yang has officially moved up to my top 3. He was probably always in my top 3, but I haven’t acknowledged it until now.

Hopefully yang gets at least 10 minutes talking time next debate, I would expect a jump in polls after that.

Why is Klobuchar given so much time to talk she’s almost the lowest polling candidate on stage!!

Yang has said that it was cold on stage and Harris agreed. Maybe this is why Amy was shaking.

Isn't weird that national polls say others are leading when the only support I've really noticed online is for Andrew Yang?
