This is my complete guide to mewing. I know this video is long, but it's important to understand ALL of the elements of tongue posture. The reality is, a lot of people oversimplify mewing and improving your tongue posture.

This video is what I have learned over the years through trial and error and the research I have done. I also have received mentorship from a seasoned orthodontist named Dr. Roland Estrabillio who has practiced improving tongue posture for several years. He has agreed to be featured in upcoming videos to provide more in depth knowledge.

I have learned that it can be quite complicated to correct habits that you have had your entire life. Focusing on improving both the functions and posture of your tongue is the most important.

The 3 elements to posture I talk about in this video are:
1. Resting tongue posture
2. Lip seal
3. Body Posture

The 3 functions I discuss are
1. Swallowing
2. Chewing
3. Speaking

Things I've learned in my mid 20's:
- I've been breathing wrong
- Swallowing, wrong
- Tongue is in the wrong place
- Washing/drying my hair, wrong
- Shaving, wrong
- Speaking, wrong

Jesus, Mary and Joseph Stalin. I give up.

For those asking yes it'll be a little uncomfortable at first since you're exercising the tongue but it'll eventually start to feel natural and comfortable

Perfect tongue posture is where my tongue goes when i'm anxious. Apparently doing it when not anxious makes me anxious. Wtf. Also that MRI of a person speaking was freaking crazy to watch.

The fact that I've been doing these things correctly in my entire life and still be ugly only means what I need is Divine Intervention.

I'm 54 years old and never knew this was even a thing! My husband and I paid for braces for 9 years straight. Three years per kid. One set came off and another one went on. But, thank goodness for that. I don't know what we would have done if we had to pay for more than one set at a time. Our youngest son is entering his teenage years and he's already had his soft palate widened. I will look more into this. Thank you so much for the information!

For anyone out there- this shit works. I found tongue posture out when I was like in grade 9, and I'm in grade 10 and I'd say my jaw has come foreward like ~3 centimeters. Might not seem like a lot but it's a lot seeming that I didn't do it much!!! As well, get one of those anti mouth breathing chin straps for sleeping- trains you to not mouth breathe. Use it when your brain forgets or after sicknesses 💞 goodluck everyone and know you are valid, you are enough, nd only do this stuff for you!!! Not for your boyfriend or girlfriend, or society, but for you!!! Have a great day!

I just found your channel. I am twenty seven and I have slight symptoms of mouth breathing. I started learning about mewing through learning how to breathe better because I'm congested. This channel is awesome and is helping improve my life so much. I really have a hard time understanding why this is not taught in school. Thank God I found this while my son is still young. Thank you so much for being so open about your journey with this.

Thought I was going to learn how to make cat sounds.
Thought it might be helpful for 2020.
I am sorely disappointed.

You're really helping me with this. I was always afraid this would be how my face looked no matter how much weight I would lose (normal type body, but my chinfat stays chubby/hanging). I realise I have absolutely no control over my tongue, swallowing or breathing (I've been stuttering since I was 6, 26 now, have seen a speech therapist for it when I was little). Doing these things all wrong literally makes me tired all day and I would love it to get rid of it someday. Will be practisising your tips from now on, hopefully it will get me somewhere. Massive thanks 🙏

Oh my gosh! For the most part, I've been doing everything in this video correctly, but when you talked about the proper pronunciation of _t-le-ne-de_, I realized that while my tongue wasn't going through my teeth, it was hitting just forward of "the spot". So I tried moving my tongue back a little while pronouncing these syllables. Then, a sudden inspiration struck. I've never been able to roll my r's; I've watched numerous tutorials on the subject and practiced for hours but never really gotten anywhere. Now, I tried again with my new tongue posture (moving gradually from a simple alveolar tap to a full roll using practice words from a tutorial), and I managed it after only a few tries! So _that's_ what was the issue this whole time. This will certainly come in handy with my German lessons. Thank you!
