*The boy who played "Pidge" (Kim Charney) continued in movies and television for another ten years, then went back to school and became a doctor. Although he's now 77 years old, he still works as a surgeon in Southern California. Sterling Hayden DID win a Silver Star in WW2, serving as a Marine Corps officer. He died at the age of 70 in 1986. Finally, Nancy Gates (Pidge's mother) died a short time ago, in 2019. She was 93.* 😇

At 76, I well remember this movie because at age 8, in 1954, it was
the very first film that I saw, without an accompanying adult! I believe
that it was a "B" movie (2nd film), but outstanding in its acting, espec-
ially that of Frank Sinatra, playing a "crazed assassin"! Top notch!

I first saw this movie on TCM years ago. I loved it then and just as much now. Thanks for showing movies from the past.

My Mum was Robert Bassler's Secretary at 20th Century, Soho Sq, before the War and Bassler returned to the US. They met again when he was doing TV Talk Shows in NY promoting "Suddenly"..

Hello to the Triple-C gang. This is an all-time favorite classic. What an amazing cast. You can't beat Sinatra, Hayden, and Gleason. Sterling Hayden is always superb. I hope I can be here to see it. Shout out to the amazing Helen Poornima, Neem Tree, Nicole Tanis, Clare, Six Toes, Big Mike Silva, et al.✔👍

What a treat to see this great movie in color! I’ve watched this movie through the years but always in black & white. I remember how frightening it was to watch when I was a kid.

Very good acting and great story. Frank Sinatra was a great actor in addition to his other talents. The supporting cast was excellent.

I read where they built a fake house on the hill since it was nothing but grass. A lot of the same train station remains.

It’s nice watching a movie with acting and a good story. In this era of CGI with nothing but ridiculous special effects, gratuitous violence & sex it’s extremely rare to find a movie as good as Suddenly. Can’t anyone write anymore? Or are audiences so conditioned to only respond to lots of stimuli like amoebas?

The colourisation looks so natural and authentic, if someone hadn't told me it used to B&W, I'd never have guessed. It's a miracle.

The first movie I watched that had Sterling Hayden in it was Zero Hour, about 2 years ago, and I was so impressed that I’ve watched every movie with him in it that I’ve come across. He’s just so good!

Sinatra was such a little guy 😂. Sterling Hayden was such a hunk at 6’5

Sinatra could imitate his mob pals to get the bad boy image right.

I love how there's no post-traumatic stress disorder in these movies.

This shows that when Frank put his mind to it, he could act very well.
