We could also use the formula for the area of trapezium which is 1\2 * height*sum of parallel sides

You have to find the area of that triangle and it's base times height divided by 2...which would be 3 times 4 divided by 2. Then you have the area of the rectangle which is length times width. After that you add the two figures together to get the area of the whole shape. You have to do them separately.

Thank you so much! I have been struggling with math since I got out of the womb. This dilemma is so scarring to me. I will always remember the day Jonas Nickels beat me up in the School cafeteria because I could not find 6^2(8 ÷ 20) + 34x. Every single student laughed at my sorrows. "Way to go, ginger!". Even my friend Elizabeth Myers laughed. I will never forgive her.. Lucky for me, I never remembered her phone number. Too many 6's. I went home crying to my parents and my bathroom. Am I good enough? Will I ever be a veterinarian because I can not find the area of a complex shape? Will anyone accept me? Who would want to be associated with someone like me? What is 65÷ 120? Math is hard folks. Because I will never figure it out.

Area of a Triangle is:
Area= 1/2 base X perpendicular height

Perpendicular - line or surface that points straight up. Rather than being slope or horizontal.

for us, the formula for a triangle is (1/2 x b x h)

Hey, just to help u out. The 5 cm is used to confuse u during exam, which makes u think which side to use even if that side isn't useful during our calculations. I hope that helped. :)
