He doesn't explain why the Sumerian Tablets predate the reiterated hebrew version. The guy isn't asking whether the flood was true, but why do the Jews retell a story that predates their own.

The Torah is the guidance for the Children of Israel from the Creator. We are descendants of his servant Noah. 👆

Was it global? Or local like the website biologos claims?

I have been considering becoming a Noahide for a long time but what holds me back is the claims that Judaism is a modern version of Sumerian beliefs. Sumerian said Adamu was man made of clay, that there was a garden of the Gods called paradise of Dilmun, etc. King Hammurabi apparently was visited on a mountain by the sun God Shamash and wrote the laws on a black stele stone that's in a museum today and some of those laws resemble the Torah such as an eye for an eye. Instead of assuming that Judaism stole from Sumerian beliefs, are they connected? Abraham is from Ur of Sumeria, did he incorporate his beliefs to the Jews? How did we go from many Gods to one? Is God the God of other Gods but that we are only to worship him? The Sumerian claims has me confused and wondering if maybe they were the true Gods and Goddesses but then again, Sumeria fell and the Jewish nation does continue to stand. Please consider a video on the claims that the Bible stole from Mesopotamian beliefs? Did Abraham leave the Mesopotamian Gods because they were evil? Its been awhile since I read why God told him to leave.

Mr Rabbi Tovia, every source i check kept telling me that the Torah was written a way before the sumerian texts, is it a lie?
And what about these claims on internet saying that Adam and Eva are also stories already present on older sumerian scriptures?

Or it's just natural for humankind to base some of their myths on natural disasters that they experienced.

this man’s expertise is not rooted in anything regarding Sumer/Mesopotamia or cultural anthropology. he understands nothing about the cyclical nature of the universe, including this planet.

With all due respect, at 2:32 it seems to me that this is a classic case of a "False Dilemma Fallacy"...According to him, there is no other reasonable explanation other that the two, the Rabbi is proposing.

Very simplistic not satisfying and not taking in account that earlier creation stories with textual similarities I would expect a more detailed many hours of lectures in the matter תודה

If Jews were the center of the flood story then why was it documented first by Sumerians?

Every story has a flood story, that is not a true story.

If u r in a local flood it can look as though the entire world is flooded. My question, if a person was in China, in that early era of mankind, how would anyone know that the flood covered any specific amount of land, let alone the entire world???
It was impossible at that time to do so. Which means authors were at best speculating & expanding their personal experience to entail the entire world. I suspect something even worse, these were legends of complete & total fiction.
