7th Grade Math 4.3c, Analyzing Graphs of Proportional Relationships

We've learned that we can describe a proportional relationship with the equation y=kx. The constant of proportionality, k, tells us how steep the graph of the relationship is. The greater the absolute value of k, the steeper the line. We show how to use the equation y=kx, or k=y/x to find the constant of proportionality, k. We choose a point on the graph as ordered pairs. Then we solve for k. The greater the constant of proportionality, the steeper the line.
