Broadcom terminates VMware's free ESXi hypervisor

Broadcom has discontinued the free version of VMware's ESXi hypervisor.

Bad news, true unfortunately. Hope that laidoff guys from vm start an independent project where we can all bild someting new. Broadcom made all things complicated for small users like me, and i know i'm not the only one

You can now get a 60 day license with VCF for evaluation purposes

Not happy about this. I have a voucher to take the VCTA-DC exam this month that was purchased mid 2023. Needless to say I stay motivated and complete the exam. Hopefully getting the cert will not be a total waste. As the saying goes when one door closes another will open up. Wouldn’t it be great if a bunch of developers came together and created a startup to take over where VMWare left off? As now there is a big opportunity for some company to fill the void caused by the Broadcom aquistion.

Can I install V8 now and use if I have iso file?

Free esxi should not have been free this all time anyway. Imagine hyperv is not free, you have to purchase a windows server license for that.
