The conduction system of the heart is also known as the nodal system. As it consists of nodes and other conducting cells, that generate and pass impulses to maintain the automatic rhythmicity of the heart.

In addition to that, the autonomic innervations including sympathetic and parasympathetic innervations are also involved in increasing or decreasing the contractility of the heart.
