X264 vs NVENC H.264 Performance | Best OBS Studio Settings

Default OBS Studio settings are not the best for the performance it usage too much CPU try these settings it's better...

Correction - Downscale filter option under video uses GPU NOT CPU to downscale. Rescale Output under Output uses CPU.

The CPU measurement won`t help you much with nvenc h.264 as it uses your GPU (Graphic card) to render and not your CPU. To test your CPU usage, open the task manager. No wonder you CPU goes down, when nvenc is used as encoder ;)

But the encoder from nVidia is pretty poor but has been improved in the new 20nseries cards so I wouldn't use it on orders cards

kilObit so you’re using a laptop?? And you’re telling some people who have desktops that nvenc is better? X264 is better if the processor can handle it. It just puts a lot of stress on it, and you’re only recording not streaming, most people will come here for streaming answers. You should at least tell them that you’re using a laptop for this comparison. Posted here so people can see
