I went into nursing school with the intention of going to either pediatrics or oncology. After clinical rotations, I ended up loving neuroscience. I'm working med-surg at least for a year and then think about advancing to the ICU.

Wanted OR since I decided to even go back to school for pre-reqs. Never waivered from that. Most people in school will be applying to several specialties all around the city. I plan on going a different route and applying only to OR but all over the place. Single with no responsibilities, so I'm going to take advantage of it.

Great video as always and I am absolutely loving these collabos w/ Kati. Kati, I can't get enough of your podcasts and your content on NRSNG...such an awesome knowledgeable RN! And of course so are you Brad!

could you please do a video on how to handle bullying in nursing school? you would think that mature adults would not bully each other, but I'm being singled out in class. Nursing school is tough enough without having to hate going into class. Sometimes this bullying happens in front of the teacher, and she's doing absolutely nothing about it. I have a feeling that my school is not necessarily supportive of its students - it just wants to have the top students pass the NCLEX and the rest of them to sluff off. Maybe they think that bullying will help lighten the herd. I don't know. I'm just trying to get through.

ER nurse! But I can say I do have med surg/tele/stepdown experience because the residency program for ER new grads at my hospital has 6 weeks of orientation on the med surg/tele/stepdown units and another 6 weeks of ER orientation. That has helped me be a better prepared nurse because I was able to develop time management skills and get a scope of the overall patient population that comes in.

I know this is an older video but I am trying to get more info on incorporating nursing and nutrition?

I have my ideas on where I may want to be. Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, or Oncology are my top 3! I start the program January 2018 but I am keeping an open mind to all specialties! Awesome video as always (:

I think Kati brings up a good point in sticking in a similar zone to where you really want to be until a position opens up. There's not too many new grad hiring, they mostly will hire in med-surge. I'd like to specialize in ICU 😄 thanks guys!

Im so torn! I graduate in May and so many people in my class are already applying to jobs and know what area they want. I love so many different areas! The only thing I know for sure is that I know I want to work with children (i was a PCA on an adult med surg floor and i know i highly dislike adult care). I love pediatric oncology, med/surg, ED, TICU, PICU, psych, NICU, and labor and delivery. Soooo many options. Guess im just going to apply to a bunch of different areas and whatever job I get, I guess it was meant to be!

I graduated in 1995 and I went to Med/ Surg, ICU and Cardiac stepdown. Now I feel an inclination to phyc mental spec. Any comment on that?

Actually looking to get into the nursing research field using a BSN. Also need an MSN, possibly a PhD. Looking forward to that long journey.
