Celebrity voice actors work if two reasons…
1) They are actually a good voice actor
2) They fit the character really well which can often disguise the fact that they’re a celebrity

I rewatched Fantastic Mr Fox the other day and I didn’t notice a lot of the celebrities because they fit the roles so well

I feel like Pixar still has… a little glimmer of sincerity to it? Like, it still adds a bit of wholesome authenticity to their movies and even in the bts — like having original VAs.

Celebrity voice acting is perfectly okay if the celebrity is a good voice and vibe match for the character. The Rock did pretty well as Maui in Moana, for example. Also Rob Williams as Genie was really good, and Jack Black as Po.

If I had a quarter for every time Ryan Reynolds played a character named Guy. I’d have 50¢. That isn’t a lot. But isn’t it weird that happened twice?

This is what i really like about Pixar. They don’t put in random actors/actresses for the money (albeit it’s kinda cool to see a favorite actor playing in a good movie)

I'd say MLP: A New Generation was, imo, an example of celebrity VA's done well. Most of the voices fit the characters well and weren't too distracting to me, there was even a YouTuber in the cast and she did surprisingly well too. Though the consequence for this casting is that they've been replaced for the upcoming series, which sucks because I'd already grown used to the film's cast.

Tremblay it’s actually a well-known child actor. And he’s pretty good you should watch the movie “The Room”. Also rest in peace Robin Williams.
