Weather Week Ahead 7/25/18

Triple digit heat to return to much of the Arklatex. Chance for rain returns this weekend. Below normal temperatures on the way next week.

Wednesday was another mostly sunny and hot day around the Arklatex. Temperatures began in the upper 60s to low 70s. Daytime highs were in the mid to upper 90s. Expect somewhat hotter air to return to the area for the next day or so. We will likely see the sunshine stick around into the weekend. Look for daytime highs to be in the upper 90s to low 100s through the weekend. Overnight lows during this period will likely warm to the mid 70s. While most of the area will be dry through Saturday, we could see a stray shower or thunderstorm as soon as Friday over the northern edge of the area. This shot at rain will gradually shift south.

A decend area of upper level low pressure will develop over the middle of the country by the middle of next week. This will bring our best rain chances from late Sunday through Monday night. That rain threat looks to shift south as some drier air moves in by Tuesday. The good news is that this pattern will bring some cooler temperatures. Look for daytime highs to fall into the upper 80s to low 90s for much of next week. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 60s to low 70s. Both are slightly below normal for this time of year.

The biggest disappointment that we might experience with this pattern change comes on the rainfall department. Right now models show that an inch or so will be possible over SE OK and SW AR. Amounts of 1/2 to 1" should be expected further south. Of course this could change as we get closer to the weekend. Stay Tuned!
