Gerry Wright is a global expert in antibiotic resistance and the inaugural lead of McMaster's newly launched Global Nexus for Pandemics and Biological Threats. Gerry is scientific director of the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research and the David Braley Centre for Antibiotic Discovery. He holds the Michael G. DeGroote Chair in Infection and Anti-Infective Research, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Antibiotic Biochemistry. Gerry is a co-founder of the Canadian Anti-Infective Innovation Network.
Maryn McKenna is an award-winning journalist and author, and a Senior Fellow of the Center for the Study of Human Health at Emory University. Her TED Talk, "What do we do when antibiotics don't work anymore?" has been viewed 1.8 million times and translated into 34 languages. She runs a massive open online course, “Journalism in a Pandemic: Covering COVID-19 now and in the future,” supported by the Knight Foundation, United Nations Development Program, UNESCO and the World Health Organization.
