Our Christmas traditions is to celebrate Christmas eve with a dinner. We serve tamales, enchiladas, or ham. We bake a cake for baby Jesus and unwrap baby Jesus from all the nativity scenes. He is our present. This year I would also like to attend midnight Mass. Christmas morning we open presents and stay in our pajamas all day watching movies and eating left overs.

After Thanksgiving I have my kids each make a bucket list of fun things they'd like to do during the Christmas season. They're all just simple things that bring them joy. Some of the things they write are: make gingerbread houses, Christmas movie night, get hot cocoa and look at Christmas lights, and have a Christmas brunch. We don't always do the exact same traditions every year, just the ones that are meaningful to my kids. Some things that are meaningful to me are: getting Christmas books at the library, decorating the house and tree together, making homemade gift tags, and listening to Christmas music in the evening by the light of the Christmas tree.

On our Christmas Day, we open Father Christmas's stockings in the morning, spend the morning cooking the dinner whilst drinking Mulled Wine and enjoy the small gifts with each other, then have Christmas dinner around 1pm-2pm then go for a walk at a local woods where trees are decorated, then go home and open Christmas presents 4-5pm later have Christmas pudding and watch a film and the Queen's yearly Christmas Speech. This has always been the tradition for me growing up in the UK and it means the day doesn't revolve around presents as they are opened up much later and you have the late afternoon and all of boxing day to enjoy them too :) of course you can't have Christmas dinner without Christmas crackers/hats/jokes inside :D

I think decorating as a family is fun! I try to teach my kids the spirit in doing so is fun and a way to express joy and be creative. They help decorate the front yard and the house while we listen to music. They love it. We also start Christmas movie nights after Thanksgiving and work through our collection. Closer to Christmas we always drive to look at Christmas lights and go to neighbors & neighborhoods with the bigger displays. We usually do gingerbread houses and Christmas cookies. These are all things I enjoyed with my parents and family growing up too 🎄❤️. The only thing we don’t do is set up a train around the tree & my grandpa always did that. Maybe one year we might bring that tradition back!

We travel, we work hard during the year but twice a year we take two big trips. One during summer and one during winter.

My family and I light advent candles in the evening when we take time to pray, sing, and reflect. We also get together to make Christmas cookies. As a kid, when decorating the tree, we would listen to Christmas songs, especially the Mariah Carey Christmas album!

One of the things that I did with my kids when they were younger they’re all grown in their 20s and 30s I took a white sheet and we will write something to Jesus on the sheet with permanent marker and have them put their hand prints next to it and each Christmas I hang that sheet up so they can see, love your your ideas Nikki

Love all the content. Our family love watching movies so we usually pick a movie series and do a marathon. We have done Lord of the Rings, Terminator, Borne Identity, and some Anime series.
