If those driver jobs were full time I think they’d be filled. Most people need full time jobs as part time positions won’t pay the bills.

Bus drivers shouldn't be a part time job. Give them good pay and full time positions.

A g7 country like Canada should have a world class public transit. The government talks about reducing emissions but the fact of the matter is that public transportation is the most effective way to reduce emissions

Same situation is in St. John’s Newfoundland although it’s the capital of the province. Hope you guys will cover it too.

Also, there are thousands of people even with a college diploma looking for jobs. Now, freshly graduated students with a diploma do not even care about major related field to work at. Make the positions full time.

Want more drivers? Give them full time hours with benefits right off the bat. This is an avoidable problem caused by the city.

17 Part time positions? Let me guess don't want to pay for employee benefits so they limit the hours

As someone who lives in this city, it's just as bad if not worse than described. The bus going to the college gets so full I can't bring my service dog with me all the time because no one will let me sit down with him so he can't get under a seat like he's supposed to. I've had to press my hand on the frozen window of the bus to cause pain in hopes of keeping myself from passing out because it's so crowded I can't keep the circulation in my lower extremities moving properly (I have issues with fainting when standing up and standing too long, hence the service dog).

Like other people have said. Offering full time will change the shortage. So unless you like dealing with complaints sent to you on a regular basis, fix your hiring process. Must of had a bunch of drivers recently quit for there to be a sudden shortage so bad it's getting media attention!

Should have a BRT System on the major routes with dedicated lanes and new rolling stock for those routes with high frequency pickups like every ten minutes. Only in a dream would the serve up the money to start a light rail system on CN's corridor. So that's why I say the should have some of their routes be converted into dedicated BRT routes. The mainline route makes sense. a new route for BRT up all the way Balmoral corridor to the college university and hospital every ten minutes also make sense. But memorial corridor would end up stopping at algoma as that would bottle neck. but a dedicated route from the intercity area to algoma would alleviate congestion. the problem is frequency. It's such driver centric city and give bus drivers a full time job.

Look up the history of Los Angeles' Bus Riders Union, they did great work in improving the system while reducing prices.

Trudeau should send the military to Thunder Bay to operate their public transit system.😂😂 Pretty sure soldiers who drive tanks have the license to drive transit buses. Former Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman requested the military to help dig Toronto out of a snow storm a couple years back but what does he know he oversaw a bankrupt Bad Boy Furniture Store Chain.😂😂
