How does this square with Colossians 2:9, that “in Him (Jesus Christ) the whole fullness of divinity dwells bodily”? The implication of the objection that the Trinity cannot work with divine simplicity is that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, are parts of God. Now the whole is always greater than the part, and so the fullness of God could not dwell completely in the Son who is a part of God. Yet, we read that it does.

It seems like Mullins doesn’t know why the councils were even called in the first place. They were called to RESPOND to spreading heresies. The affirmations at the councils were in response to the heresies. Not finding that the early church fathers held to DDS to be persuasive is interesting. Is it motivating in the slightest? Or not at all?

Very good, ADS is heresy. The trinity is numerically three, essentially common and connected, and relationally unified. The Trinity is NOT a He with three parts. The Father is the First person (Singular and Unbegotten) the Son is the Second person (Singular and Begotten) The Spirit is the Third person ( Singular and proceeding, neither begotten nor unbegotten) All three do not share the same attributes, but all share the same essence. This is why the East rejects ADS and affirms the essence/ energies distictions.
