ok but i still have trouble understanding what is the difference between Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai when it comes to China.. like the relationship between the cities and the country. do they have different laws or rules? because those cities seem a lot more “western” or “liberal” than the rest of China. can someone please dumb it down for me. i know they are referred as special administration areas but idk what that is and i’m genuinely curious.
