I always hate that trope of how someone knowingly dates a bully, and then viewers are expected to feel sorry for her when the abuse is turned on her

Heck I disliked Sam from Cobra Kai the first 2 seasons, but credit where credit is due, her bully boyfriend began hurting her AFTER she dumped him because she witnessed him beating up 3 defenseless teens, and was like 'hell no'

I remember my mother saying MJ is a bad woman and I should avoid woman like that at all cost when I was watching Spiderman as a kid. I got angry at her because I really liked MJ. As I grew up, I realized how right my mother's advice was.

It's kinda funny cuz originally in the comics, Gwen Stacy was the annoying toxic damsel in distress who was always mad at Peter for not being around her for 5 seconds, while Mary Jane was the cool, laid back girl who always supported Peter and seemed like she always had everything under control.
