I don’t like the idea. Some countries have a big disadvantage with these new rules.

While I will be eternally sad that we didn't get to see Blackbird and Dona in the Eurovision Grand Final, we really do need jury votes in the semi-finals. I agree, they don't always get it right but the televoters don't always get it right either. We need a fair balance. I don't like this change. Eurovision is going through a period of terrible changes. Leave well enough alone.

To me, It’s clear that 100% tele is being brought back after the jury rigging scandal in Semi Final 2 this year.

I’m very unsure on it though. Block voting could be a big factor on who qualifies and who doesn’t, therefore putting smaller countries at a disadvantage. I would’ve preferred if the jury vote was decreased for the semi finals, rather them being scrapped altogether. Maybe a 2/3 televote and 1/3 jury split could have worked.

However, I’m personally fine with a rest of the world vote. I read that it will only count as one set of extra points in the final, which is good. So it gives international fans a chance to vote, while also not being too impactful overall.

I'm sorry, are people mad. Nevermind the juries voting in the semi finals the real problem is the world voting. The eurovision was set up to unite EUROPE for Europeans the feel frankly more European. Bringing our contenant together through the medium of music. There is so much history to this competition and for it to continue to be diluted into what has just become a global song competition, void of purpose. This will be brilliant for the viewer base, brilliant for the exposure of artists and brilliant in a monetary sense. But for me this is the sad end to the EUROvision.

This move will promote more palletable music that is radio friendly, that doesn't reflect the culture of the country that makes it. The whole European feel to this competition will be sucked out.

Obviously this is probably a crude overreaction to what will actually be brought in. (Probably like one set of points for the rest of the world). But we really can't stand for this constant dilution of this competition into irrelevancy. Would love to hear your thoughts

Totally agree with you. The global vote is nice bc a lot of us are not from Europe (here talking from Argentina, for example) and it's time to address the global interest Eurovision has, but the only televotes in the semis can be more unfair than we can calculate now... Not sure if it's gonna work tbh.

I wonder if they're getting rid of the jury voting in the semis due to the cheating scandal in the 2022 edition. Also Azerbaijan getting through despite getting 0 points from the televoting... Whatever the reason, it's going to be a huge disadvantage to certain countries and certain genres. Countries like Latvia, Slovenia and Malta are going to struggle and more artistic expressions are going to find it hard to appeal to the masses. At least Poland will finally be comfortably in the finals :D

I’m a bit worried about countries like the Netherlands and Ireland not qualifying again due to low voting blocs. Unless the votes from the rest of the world have a big influence.

I don't dislike the changes to be honest, it will be very interesting to see how this turns out

This new voting system really sucks!!!It will make the final more basic, pop friendly and there will not be big diversity in the final.

as an Australian, we are screwed in the semis now 🤣

I wonder how they'll do the global vote for the semis, can non participating countries vote in both semis? That seems a little unfair for the participating countries and their broadcasters who can only vote in one. As a minimun, they should then also let the Big 5 and the winner vote in both, as they cant vote for themselves either.

I don't mind the changes overall but they should've given more power to public (f.ex. 60/40) rather than get rid off juries completely for the semis. But at the end of the day I have to experience it first.

That means blockvoting will be even worse.

Interesting thing to consider is that jury favoured songs would very much benefit from this new system in the grand final. Let me explain. By having no juries in the semis it means there is more likely going to be less songs for the juries to gravitate towards, therefore their points stacking on jury favoured songs. For example in 2017 Australia would have failed to qualify in this scenario where they received 171 jury points in the final. These extra points would be up for grabs and would be very unlikely for those points to go onto countries who did poorly in the jury in the semis who would now qualify such as Estonia or Finland. These points would likely be stacked onto the countries already doing well with the juries such as Portugal or Bulgaria. I guess a way to counter this to some extent is having the extra televote points in the final from the rest of the world.

With the number of fans in Australia, they will for sure have their first win. For me it’s a Eurovision and as it says, it’s for countries in Europe

I think the Jurys should still stay but only have 30% of the voting power, the other 70% should be up to the voting public.

Completely disagree with the global vote. I see petitions and boycotts coming.

I already knew that most ESC youtubers would upload their videos of reactions to the new system at the time when it was very late midnight (2/3/4 A.M.) in the place I live. that is unfortunate because i couldn't give my comment earlier than I thought it should be.
.
Anyway, overall I partially agree and also partially disagree with this change.
-disagreement: 100% televote for the semifinal I think, there should still be the 50/50 system as well. if this is in response to the "cheating" jurors last year, then the response is not 100% right. in my opinion, what should better be done is to ban/prohibit those particular jurors (i.e. those particular people who cheat) from their involvement in Eurovision, either forever or for very long years. another important thing is that juries have the expertise aspect that most regular televoters don't have. the only flaw about the juries is when some (of course not all) of them become too subjective, which may cause some issue (such as cheating and allegedly being "bought").
-agreement: "Rest of the World" voting that is not too overpowered. well, not really agreement, but this is still a bit tolerable. the fact that they make the "Rest of the World" voting one additional set of points (1-8, 10 and 12), and the fact that the "Rest of the World" voting is also paid and not all countries can vote, are parts that I still agree with, because it will make the whole audience involved while still making the involvement proportional.
.
one last thing about how it works in the grand final:
-no RoTW juries, by the way. so it's 26 performing countries, 37 sets of jury points, but 37+1 sets of televoting points.

Certain countries will obviously have an unfair advantage, we will know most of qualifiers before we even hear songs . Should be jury only as opposed to televote only

I knew stupid changes would happen when a Swede took over as EBU executive supervisor. The global vote is ridicilous and I fear how the results will be. The jury in the final and not semi is also ridicilous. Thanks Martin Österdahl
