You make a good point, Jack. I think that goes for women too. I never had everything handed to me on a silver platter, I was taught that if I wanted something I earned the money for it, my thanks to the Lord and my mom and dad for that. Tough times will make you if you let the Lord work through you. Or they will break you.

I simulate hard times, or at least scenarios for my 7 year old daughter so that she's aware and feels the friction. And whenever I compliment her, it's, "you're smart, tall, strong, and pretty, but pretty is always last, because it means the least". She always smiles and says thank you.

Life has been pretty tough, but what are you supposed to do, cry about it?.

Delayed gratification is my superpower!! Great point, Jack! No one, literally NO ONE I know, has the ability to wait or do without for ANY period of time. I can't help but to think they have never experienced hard times and are spoiled absolutely rotten... not who I want around me in SHTF for sure! Their whining alone would drive me to the edge!

So unbelievably true Jack. Can't agree more man, went to a wedding recently for a good buddy of mine, n the first thing I noticed was that EVERY SINGLE dude there, would 💯 pass for gay 15-20yr ago. The most metro men you've ever seen! We grew up together and have grown distant based mostly because I went to the service when he went to college, and I moved back home n bought a house with some property n he stayed living that city life. In fact just bought his first home in his mid thirties, right in the new chíç part of town, and they of course have no plans on having children. Compl3tely oblivious on ANYHING current as far as global events or domestic policy, our tyrannical government, or open fbckin border 😡😈! But I kept my cool and left early. Guarantee he'll be calling when things go to isht!

Agree 100%. Also hard times fosters reliance on God which in turn gives us peace. My sister is a multi millionaire and the most unhappiest person I know because she doesn’t need God. Therefore hedonism as you put it dictates and there is no peace and fulfillment.

Thank you for this reminder. I've been learning to be a better steward of my talents and skills. It also helps to save money by making things and realizing I don't need this or that I've got what I need. And when depression makes it seem unworth living discipline is often not at all a thing and being an epicurian can come from fleeing pain and not just speaking pleasure but avoiding negatives and all of a sudden it's a nightmare. Gotta have healthy skills to cope and discipline self control. I want to be healthy for my Children.
