Julie is right about Persian rugs...they are timeless and add such a nice classy touch to the room. I have a big Persian carpet in my living room with an elaborate tree of life design, complete with birds, flora n foliage. I never get tired of admiring it, esp the way its colours change with the light. And best of all...it looks and feels super luxurious.

Thank you so much for this video. Our house is hardwood floorboards and I love the thought of having rugs around the house. We had the big round high pile from IKEA but now have moved it temporarily to our bedroom. I see most of the rugs in the lounge area is not the soft ones but the hard ( weaved ) ones if I'm describing it right, doesn't look nice and soft for your feet when you're relaxing infront of the tele. I’ve a recent subscriber, & I couldn’t be more grateful for your expertise. For years I’ve hesitated on decorating due to lack of confidence. But since watching your videos I’ve been encouraged to embrace “what I love.” I often chuckle at your references to outdated decorating, which I can relate to as I’m 51yrs old and still feel obligated to follow what most “back then” thought was ok trend. So, I now have an opportunity to create my own spaces. You’ve created a positive “vibe” for someone like me to attempt a long overdue task of making my home more welcoming. Specifically to this area rug video, I have a dilemma where my larger family room & dining room are in close proximity. So, I’m not sure how to follow the advice of extending the rug under dining table without getting too close to the other area and making it look too cluttered? I’m thinking I may need to reconfigure the room by getting new furniture. Your advice is greatly appreciated. I love your confidence, enthusiasm, & genuine approach in sharing your expertise.

My ex-husbands Grandma gave us an oriental rug ( with muted red and blues) for a wedding gift. We married young and were still in college. We had a very small 1 bed apt. and my ex really did a great job incorporating furniture's finds in our town; usually throw-aways. That carpet came with us everywhere. It was perfect.
